Annual Dinner/Christmas Party
The
BVAC Annual Dinner/Christmas party this year took
place on Friday 12 December at the David Lloyd
Centre (formerly Amida Club) in Beckenham. There
were only 34 present this year, a slight
disappointment after the terrific success of last
year's event. As usual we handed out some
prestigious awards for all manner of bizarre
feats!
We
recognised a number of people there with prizes/
awards in a slightly tongue-in-cheek
‘ceremony’. Winners of trophies,
branded a la Dave, the satellite broadcast
channel, were:
Joans (female newcomers)

Les (male newcomer) – Ashley Smith
Phils (lifetime achievement) – Don McKanna,
Johnny Johnson
Colin (services to BVAC) – Tony Unseld
Derek (honorary award to non-member for support)

BVAC 5-mile Cross
Country Race - Sat 1 March 2008
Our
cross country race was a very succesful affair
all round, though it would be great to see more
runners next time. If we're able to run it again
soon, lots of people promised to bring additional
runners - it's just so long since we organised
anything! Although quite a few more had entered,
we had 42 finishers (with some not running at all
- because of illness, injury or otherwise - and a
couple unable to complete the race).

Olympics
2012
The Olympic Committee have
many years to plan, develop and deliver the
Games, but planning for the volunteer programme
has already begun. You can sign up to register
your interest now!
Up to 70,000 volunteers
will be needed to help deliver the Olympic Games
and the Paralympic Games in 2012. Volunteering at
a Games should be a never to be forgotten
experience-register now and experience it for
yourself!
