BVAC 5-mile Cross Country race
Our 5 mile race is now only a short time away -
sign up to run now
We will once more be hosting a 5 mile cross country race at Spring
Park/ Sparrows Den. The 2012 event will take place on Sunday 18 March at
11.00am. We will need a number of members to marshal but we also want some BVAC
representatives running please.
Club penants
We have acquired two penants advertising the club's
name - see picture. They can be used to 'flag' (sorry) our presence at both
indoor and outdoor events. They are in club colours and include the logo, our
name and our website address. If you'd like to take one to any particular event,
please contact Phil or Geraldine.
Annual General Meeting 2012
Our AGM will be held on Thursday 9 February 2012 at 7.30 for
8.00pm start in the Junior room at Parklangley. There is the usual small matter
of official business, before we settle down for a social chat. There will be
reports of the year and presentation of the Parkrun Cup and Shircol Handicap
Trophy. All the existing officials are standing down so others can have a go -
in particular we propose that the chairman's role be rotated on an annual basis,
with a deputy designated from the committee for learn the ropes in time for the
following year. Please come along.
Christmas lights run and 'soiree'
We had a good turn out for the usual Tuesday evening
Santa run to the lights in Hayes Lane on 20 December, followed by a meal and
social (including xmas raffle) at Parklangley. Thanks to John Soper and Pat
Cliff for organising the event and well done to all those who turned out.
London Marathon 2012
place
We only have one free marathon place this year. The
organisers are basing entitlement on the running of first claim members with
race licences according to the England Athletics database and we have only
between 1 and 50, thus gaining us one place. BVAC members seeking this place
should, if they applied for a place in tha ballot and otherwise satisfy the
constitutional requirements, show their rejection slip to Phil before the place
is allotted at the Annual/ Christmas dinner.
Membership of BVAC is annual with subscriptions due 1 January each year. For new
members joining after half way through the year, the annual subscription is
reduced. Anyone participating for BVAC is expected to be registered for a
competition licence with England Athletics - administration for first claim
members to BVAC is handled by the club, but you will be required to pay the
additional £5 registration fee each year to BVAC along with your subscription.
