Kent Relay Championships

BVAC women came out with bronze medals and our men finished narrowly outside the first three when the County relay championships were held at Norman Park on Sunday 11 September 2005. A great effort - and it told on some of the faces, but our baton changes were, if not slick, solid! Congratulations to all and thank you to the few supports who braved the colder weather to support us.

Women: Joan Burns (200m), Jackie Fortis (200m), Barbara Pope (400m), Anne Unseld (800m)
Men: Chris Marshall (200m), Martin Fortis (200m), Phil Greenfield (400m), Ray Chapman (800m)

Southern Veterans League - 2005

Another SCVAC League season is over. The re-arranged Canterbury meeting on Friday 22 July closed the season replacing the Friday 24 June which unfortunately had to be called off after only a couple of events because of bad weather. All the events were included, so ignoring any which were decided in the original fixture. Sadly a number of us were at the Norwich Union Grand Prix meeting at Crystal Palace, so a very weakened team was put out.

The men finished in overall 3rd place in Division 2 while the women unfortunately came bottom in a very competitive Division 1.

Phil Greenfield, T&F Manager, says:

"There were some excellent preformances during the season and we all had a lot of fun. With injuries and other absences we were not able to do ourselves justice but we'll do better in Division 2 with our current resources. Who knows, if we can recruit a few more, especially younger, 'vets' we could do better."
